TWO LONGLISTED FOR CRICKET SOCIETY AND MCC BOOK OF THE YEAR AWARD 2023

Hot on the heels of our announcement  that two of our titles have been shortlisted for the Cricket Writers’ Club 2022 Derek Hodgson Book Award, we’re delighted to reveal that two of our books have been longlisted for the 2023 MCC and Cricket Society Book of the Year Award.

Between Overs and Swallows and Hawke are among the longlisted titles vying for next year’s award.

Between Overs is an elegiac, often comedic, romp through the trials Michéle Savidge faced on her journey in cricket journalism. As a 12-year-old, she saw Viv Richards bat and fell in love with Richards and West Indies cricket.

Michéle set her sights on becoming, and duly became, a cricket journalist. Births, life, bereavement and depression took her away from the sport she loved, but the 2019 Cricket World Cup rekindled her passion for life – and cricket.

Swallows and Hawke is the compelling story of cricket's second-oldest rivalry, exploring 15 English cricket tours to South Africa.

It juxtaposes sensational action on the pitch with a kaleidoscope of player experiences – in jail or chased by rhinos – all framed within an analysis of racism, apartheid and African resistance.
