CHRISTMAS SIGNING DATE FOR HOPE AND GLORY
CHRISTMAS SIGNING DATE FOR HOPE AND GLORY
Anthony Broxton will be signing copies of the Hope and Glory: Rugby League in Thatcher's Britain in Wigan Waterstones on the 9th December (11am-1pm).
The book was longlisted for the 2023 William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award, the world’s oldest and most valuable sports-writing prize.
Author Anthony Broxton said: "It was an honour to be longlisted for this historic prize that has done so much to advance sports writing over the years.
"I believe it is a testament to the vibrancy of rugby league in the 1980s and to the colorfulness of the characters who changed the very nature of British sport. It was my pleasure to bring their stories to life for a new audience."
The event has been advertised by Waterstones Wigan:
"Looking at the trials and challenges that Rugby League met and overcome in Thatcher's Britain. This book is a brilliant look at a time when communities, that Rugby League relied upon, were being torn apart and yet the sport not only survived, but thrived.
"Come and meet the author, get a book signed and talk to him about the importance of Rugby to the North. A perfect gift for Christmas."
