TWO BOOKS SHORTLISTED FOR CWC AWARD

We’re delighted to reveal that two of our titles have been shortlisted for the prestigious Cricket Writers’ Club 2022 Derek Hodgson Book Award.

Elephant in the Stadium: The Myth and Magic of India's Epochal Win and The Colours of Cricket saw off strong competition to make the shortlist of ten books.

The Cricket Writers’ Club will announce the winner at its annual lunch on 4 October.

Congratulations from all at Pitch go to Elephant in the Stadium author Arunabha Sengupta and The Colours of Cricket author Philip Brown.

Elephant in the Stadium examines India's first Test series win in England in 1971. Epic and magical, with a resonance far beyond the scorecards, the victory provided a major boost for the national psyche.

Sengupta explores the many reasons for the myth and magic that surround the triumph, including the complex historical relationship between Britain and India.

The Colours of Cricket is a beautiful collection of the best photographs of award-winning cricket photographer Philip Brown.

Taking us on a nostalgic trip through time, it documents the changing face of the game over five decades. Featuring more than 340 of Brown's favourite images, this is a book every cricket fan will treasure.
