New Saints Book Sells Out at Signing!

A capacity crowd was at Waterstones in Southampton's West Quay this week, as fans queued around the block to be at the event to celebrate the launch of new book Southampton Match of My Life.

The sell-out signing event saw hundreds of Saints fans turn out to meet Southampton football legends Francis Benali and Matt Le Tissier, and snap up a signed copy of Joe Batchelor and Alex Crook's new book, which features both players alongside a host of other club legends.

Benali and Le Tissier joined the authors to sign copies of the book, and the store sold out in record time, as fans queued in huge numbers around the shopping centre to snap up their signed edition.

Le Tissier and Benali kindly agreed to return to the store to sign books for those who ordered at the event, and author Batchelor commented, "We couldn't believe, the queue was huge, snaking all around the West Quay shopping centre.

"Franny and Matt have been really generous in giving their time, and it's great that they have agreed to return to the store to sign copies for those who were unable to get one on the day, when it sold out."

Match of My Life includes 18 Saints legends telling the stories behind their favourite ever games for the club – and allows fans of all ages to relive these magic moments through the eyes and emotions of the men who were there, pulling on the famous red-and-white stripes.

From Alan Shearer’s record-breaking debut hat-trick as a 17-year-old to Le Tissier’s last ever goal at the Dell, which reduced grown men to tears, here are personal stories never before told.
