About the author
Now aged 88, Jack Rollin is former editor of World Soccer and was a Sunday Telegraph soccer columnist for 21 years. He has written many football fact books including England's World Cup Triumph, Soccer at War, Rothmans Encyclopaedia of World Football, Soccer in the 1930s, Forties Soccer and The World Cup 1930-90. He is the long-time compiler of the iconic Rothmans and latterly Sky Football Yearbook. Jack saw Tommy Lawton play twice in the 1940s and was captivated by his attacking prowess.
