Description

Lions in the Wilderness traces the travails of England’s football team in the 1970s, a decade that saw the end of their reign as world champions, momentous managerial upheavals and the Three Lions’ failure to appear in another major tournament until 1980. On the plus side, there was a growing recognition of black players.

About the author

Clive Hetherington is a freelance sports journalist, specialising in football. Over 40 years, he has been a staff writer on four regional newspapers in north-east England and worked independently for national newspapers and magazines. Joe Hetherington studied English Language at Northumbria University before completing an MA in Creative Writing. He has been published in magazines and has also worked on film novelisations.
